  • hey, have I mentioned how BRILLIANT my kid is?

    She

    -walks
-talks ("re re" (read to me) and "baal"(bottle) new this week)
    -destroys evaporative coolers
    -opens screen doors

    She's BRILLIANT I tell you!

  • On the way to work today I was listening to KPFA's coverage of the congressional discussion on the resolution to give Bush a "blank check" to go to war with Iraq. There were a lot lot of speeches for it of course, but several excellent ones against, as well. Of particular note were speeches by Pete Stark, Barbara Lee, Cynthia McKinney, Senator Robert Byrd, but then Daschle is in favor. I especially liked when Pete Stark called Bush out on his own draft dodging during Vietnam, even if it did get him a "official reprimand".

Hey, if you want to be a local peacemaker, check out this Guide to being an activist in your own community, brought to you by the folks at Global Exchange. Good stuff!

Speaking of Peace Makers, one of my favorites has his birthday today.... John, I wonder what you would say and do if you were here today. I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round, and thinking about you.
