Month: May 2002

  • I am so tired... I have been tired for days! But, now I will go to the beach to see the mamas, and that should help.

The jury is still out in Bari vs the FBI... they have been for two weeks! They expect a verdict any time.... check out the website for up to the minute details. It seems like there is actually a chance that they may win!

  • OK, a true and truly bizzarre confession: my nearly 11 month old daughter loves this:

Hi-Ho!(click on any of the files with ".swf")

  • So.... Rose nursed again this morning, both sides, so I guess she is not weaned after all! ******PHEW*****! I was afraid I'd have to resign as La Leche League Librarian.

Anyways... I was supposed to go in to the office today but am tired so I am working here at my mom's while my sister plays with Rose. This is good!

I have been busy, I am the new co-admin at http://www.rebelmamascoop.com. I am learning new things! Who says you can't teach an old mama new tricks.

  • So! We got back and Rosie got sick, and I have been busy. But soon I will have pics to post.

On our trip, Rose nursed less and less and finally stopped altogether. She had already been slowing way down over the last month or so. I thought she had weaned early, but then this morning she decided to nurse!! Who knows what that means, stay tuned...

  • She's bAaack...

Seriously, we touched down early yesterday and I am finally awake enough to blog. Well, I cheated, I spent most of yesterday afternoon with the mamas. But I did nap, and again today I napped.

Maui was... hot, tropical, exotic, lovely, full of tourists, full of beautiful fish and yummy fish... we snorkeled, drove through the rainforest, took a boat trip to snorkel and see two species of dolphin and green sea turtles!

Rose learned about Teletubbies while we were away. She passionately loves them. She squeaks and bounces and freaks out. It is hillarious and though slightly distressing, gives me good 15 minute chunks of time for those silly little things in life like bathing.

Now we are at my folks house and making sushi, yummer yum...

Morelater, when the pictures come back...

  • So... more details about the car accident... it was not that big of a deal, the car still runs and my back is less sore today. Basically, I was turning left off Seabright onto Soquel, trying to go to Polar Bear Ice Cream to celebrate Gaby's birthday... and I turned left on a yellow, and the chick behind me did too, and then I got worried about this lady who seemed like she was going to turn into me, so I slpwed down and then the other chick who had followed me into the intersection rear ended me. Bla.

  • Well, I got rearended. Well darn!

  • So much to say, so little time...

Lets see.... thing 1, Rose is 10 months today! And my friend N's little one is 5 years old! A momentous day. Yep!! We will have coffee and celebrate...

What else. I am in crazed preparation mode trying to get work and home ready for our family trek to Maui. My parents, my sister Sabina, her husband Aaron, their fetus, Mort, Rosie, and I, are off for 10 days of sand and sun. We will try to make a couple of entries from there!

In the wider world, two things I want to discuss...

First, yesterday was the completion of the presnetation of evidence in Judi Bari's Legal Case Against the FBI. (Daryl Cherneys case too!!!) Yesterday, Judi was finally able to testify, before a jury of her peers. In a videotaped statement, made 4 weeks before her death in 1997, Judi spoke about how the FBI tried to make it seem that the bomb which exploded in her car in 1991, shattering her pelvis and causing her permanent injury, had been placed there by her. All I can say is, Judi Bari was a brave, brilliant activist, for forests, women, children, labor, and life, and a kick ass fiddle player too. She finally got her day in court, and it will be up to the jury to decide now...

In other news, tanks seem to be moving into the Gaza Strip, apparently in retaliation for the suicide bombing near Tel Aviv Tuesday. Sigh. This can't be good. Electronic Intifada is a good news source for some perspectives often not seen in the general media...

OK, Gotta go eat pastries on the beach with the mamas for a little while...

  • OK, some of my near and dear were confused by that last post. To clarify, click on the diaries by name. But, also, if you are not a Lord of the Rings fan, it might be less funny. But still, funny.

Not everything in the world is funny though. Check out my sister Mandy's Blog. Sigh.

  • Too Hard to Talk, laughing too hard... must read this.

    Gah.
    Bwah.
